Allotropes of carbon
Allotropy (Gr. allos, other, and tropos, manner) or allotropism is a behavior exhibited by certain
chemical elements: these elements can exist in two or more different forms, known as allotropes of that element.
There are 8 allotropes of Carbon:
A) Diamond
B) Graphite
C) Amorphous carbon
D) Buckminsterfullerenes
E) Glassy carbon
F) Carbon nanofoam
G) Lonsdaleite (hexagonal diamond)
H) Linear Acetylenic Carbon (LAC)
